Ingredients
Ingredients | Amount |
Hawthorn | 750g |
Rock Sugar | 200g |
Water | 200g |
In addition, you will also need a mixer, a baking pan, and an oven.
Steps
1
Clean 750 grams of hawthorn and remove the flowers and fruit cores.
2
Add rock sugar, I used the brown rock sugar that I have at home, but I ran out and added some powdered sugar that I had previously crushed. I think white sugar can also be used, the amount of sugar used in this recipe will still result in a slightly sour taste, which tastes very good.
3
Then add water and simmer over medium heat.
4
As it simmers, stir with a spoon until completely melted. The hawthorn will become a bit sticky, I simmered it for fifteen minutes.
5
Pour the rock sugar hawthorn jam into a container to cool, then pour into a blender to mix well.
6
If the mixture is too thick to stir, you can add some boiled water. If it's too thin after cooking, you can put it back into a non-stick pan and simmer it a bit more.
7
Pour the smooth hawthorn jam into a baking tray.
8
Put the baking tray in the oven and bake at 100 degrees for 40 minutes.
9
After allowing it to cool slightly, separate the Hawthorn Roll from the baking tray.
10
After cutting it into pieces, roll it up and wait for it to cool completely.
11
It's ready to eat.
Tips
When baking hawthorn rolls, it is not advisable to use too high a temperature, otherwise the hawthorn rolls may be too hard when they come out of the oven, which depends on your environmental humidity. If your kitchen is located in a drier place, you may need to reduce the oven temperature to 70 degrees, but when you extend the heating time, such as to 45 minutes.
